AI:
GenerativeAI is beginning to be pervasive, although we must not forget PredictiveAI. The big question is Sovereign AI: where India should invest its limited generativeAI funds in: in foundational models, or in the layers above? Should India consider using open source models and focus on applications in domains such as agriculture, medicine, defense and governance, and can we show some quick wins that the public can appreciate? On the other hand, there are serious concerns about job loss, water and energy demand from data centers, and biases from the training and post training data skewing model output, hallucinations and loss of cultural and national sovereignty, based on western or chinese values or politically charged (left or right) perspectives baked into the models.

Defence:
Warfare is changing with electronics/digital, but a blue-water navy and submarines are still critical. Dependencies such as for jet engines must be reduced.
Indian defense exports are a source of soft power as well, and must be ramped up. In addition to the land borders, Hormuz to Malacca should be covered by India.
Strategic initiatives such as Great Nicobar are force-multipliers in peace-time as well as in war-time.

Infrastructure:
The creation of superior living and working spaces and esp highways, rail, port, airport and metro infrastructure is game-changing for the average citizen as well as for the businessman, by reducing transaction costs and time taken for transportation. This is necessary for India to compete in global markets.

FinTech:
The Indian economy has grown steadily and has become resilient to external shocks. With the democratization of payment systems like UPI and the increased presence of domestic investors in the stock market, there is less reliance on external players. The potential use of the India Stack to create "a multi-protocol switch" could complement SWIFT and ease trade in multiple currencies and increase capital flows.

Space Tech:
Warfare is changing decisively with drones and missiles. There is a great churn in the space launch market as well, with SpaceX's arrival as well as the manned mission and reusable spacecraft plans from ISRO. A big story is the privatization of Indian aerospace and the many Indian startups in the domain. New uses of space, includng data centers, along with possible space based and satellite based warfare, and enhanced civilian applications make this a rapildy evolving field

Port-led:
India is reviving its maritime trading power which it had 3000 years ago, through deepwater container ports, efficient cargo movement, shipbuilding, etc. The Hormuz saga showed us how critical control of sea lanes and straits are. With a blue-water navy, port infrastructure, and the India Stack, India can attempt to recreate its earlier dominance of Indian Ocean trade, via offering quick, dependable good transportaton and multi-party compatibility.

Semiconductor:
India has always had the design talent, but it typically works for foreign firms. The physical fabs in India are now beginning to come on line, and with the manufacturing know-how, even at 28nm+, India can move up the value chain. There are also DLI recipients that are taping out their products, with production initially in overseas fabs, but moving to India shortly. Sustained progress on both fronts can reduce supply chain risks for defense and electronics manufacturing.

Sports Analytics:

Education:
The coming explosion in manufacturing, for instance in electronics and in defense, needs a workforce that has hands-on experience. How can the Indian tertiary education system uplevel itself to supply the necessary skills and work experience in addition to the book learning? What models can be followed?
